Bathurst is big on our calendar. Unlike Christmas, where we have been known to work, we always take the weekend of the great race off to attend, either via the couch or at Mount Panorama.
The cars are superb, the speeds hair raising for V8s, and the teams are finely tuned. Top Gear rates it. It’s a weekend where years of training and weeks of preparation roar into action. An endurance race of 1000 kilometres.
This is not just about noise, petrol heads and very fine models, its about mental and physical performance. Its about relationships. Its about people coming together to share passion and rivalry.
The mind set of these drivers is incredible. Its their life, their passion, their purpose. To drive fast, to drive to win. They prepare and plan. The race teams practice and practice and practice as a second lost in the pits could cost the race. The drivers have highly tuned reactions, senses and mental flexibility. They’re fit, they’re relaxed and they’re experienced. They know it also takes a great team, crew, engineers and excellent car to bring home the title King of the Mountain.
High performance is more than goal achievement, more than success, and it takes more than one person. The highest performing people have not only determination, grit and passion, they have surrounded themselves with great people who enable them to be their best. If you’ve set yourself some big audacious hairy goals, have you got your team and support crew in place? You just might find it’s the difference that fuels you to the finish line!
For our northern friends - spend some time noticing representational systems, submodalities, interesting language patterns and high speed drama here.
