Submodalities 05/10/2012
Submodalities are the labels applied to how the unconscious codifies representational systems to make meaning of the world. All NLP Practitioners work with submodalities, and there are so many different descriptions. This document attempts to provide meaning to each of the commonly used submodality descriptions. You may find it useful when working with yourself and others. States have submodalities, and so do memories, beliefs and and emotions. For example, we can elicit the submodalities for an event and can recode them thereby reframing them. There are many language, spatial and structural patterns a Practitioner can use to facilitate reframing. Often, changing the submodalities of an event can make such a difference to how we re present it to the conscious mind. If you would like to know more about using submodalities, or how to change your reference to an event, belief or create new ones, join us on a training course or call us for a consultation. “You have the race of your life one year from today. If you fail you will be dragged off the course and shot. Would you plan any more carefully if this was the consequence of failing?" Stu Downs This week, Stu Downs, a Future Now client, set a new 24 hour cycling record by clocking up 691.4kilometers, with only 11 minutes off his bike for mechanical and pit stops. His journey has been one of grit, planning, team work, and a strong determination he could do it. Future Now used NLP to facilitate Stu to integrate his conscious determination with his beliefs and values. Timeline frames, anchoring, meta model and logical level language patterns enabled Stu to have additional resources which worked with his life and outcomes. Stu's website which tells of his journey is an inspiration, the story of how planning a different outcome leads to a different life. For me, being a part of Stu's journey and his team, has been a rewarding experience and has given me a new appreciation of how the coaching we provide can help achieve great goals. Congratulations Stu, on achieving your goal and showing us all what making a choice can mean. Nick Dunne - A Man With a Dream 03/22/2012
Nick Dunne completed 10 laps of Lake Taupo to honour the memory of his father and to train for the Race Across America in June 2012. 1600 kilometres of hills and flats, in the wind, rain, sun and Central Plateau elements. Nick’s father, Dan Dunne, showed how determination, attitude and living well, despite the toughest of odds, can still enable people to achieve their goals and dreams. Nick is a living example of his father’s message, and he too wants to show us all what is possible if you keep going. Nick is a client of Future Now, and has utilised mind skills training to assist in achieving this quest. We are proud to sponsor and continue to support Nick and his team as he follows his dream of riding across America. Nick’s website for more information and if you would like to help get him there. Life Coaching and NLP 03/21/2012
We're often asked "what is the difference between Life Coaching, Personal Training and NLP?" In a nutshell, life coaching provides a series of out of the box processes through which a client is led to come up with their own solutions to implement in their lives to achieve personal goals, as a personal trainer or fitness coach will lead a client through a series of pre-determined activities to increase strength, fitness, flexibility and achieve defined physical goals. A Life Coach and a Personal Trainer are trained to be observers, to encourage and motivate, and guide and advise their clients on how to get results. Future Now labels life coaching personal development. This covers the broader range of our offerings based on the expertise of our coaches. NLP works with "what presents" and utilises "bespoke" patterns to allow the client to move forward. NLP works with where a person is now, is content free and does not require constant conscious application - or rituals or affirmations to "daily rituals". With New Code NLP change is quite subtle, therefore elegantly applied in business, negotiation, organizational development and corporate change work as well as in personal change work. We have found that New Code NLP enables practitioners to engage the autonomous system in a person, which is fantastic for athletes and people under pressure or in stressful situations. New Code NLP enables the client to fully engage the unconscious mind (without the practitioner installing signals or using hypnosis) to come up with resources to facilitate changes that will work for a client ecologically. An NLP coach is not an adviser. A Life Coach is often an adviser. At Future Now we utilise both NLP and Life Coaching practices, dependent upon the needs of the client or business. We are trained in both Classic and New Code NLP patterns and principles. All NLP practitioners are trained to suspend their personal beliefs when working with clients. While the subject of beliefs is studied in most Life Coaching certifications, it explores the types of beliefs and the effects of those beliefs, rather than the structure and effect of the beliefs of the client you are working with. There are certain presuppositions underlying NLP. Some of these are as follows.
Wikipedia explains.. " Managing is making sure people do what they know how to do. Training is teaching people to do what they don’t know how to do. Mentoring is showing people how the people who are really good at doing something do it. Coaching is none of these – it is helping to identify the skills and capabilities that are within the person, and enabling them to use them to the best of their ability." NLP is often used therapeutically, and has evolved into communication and change management applications across many fields. Future Now engages people who have life coaching and/or NLP qualifications, and have found that while NLP usually gets immediate results, the principles of life coaching facilitate a journey for the client. Welcome to our new website 03/02/2012
Time for a change. Yes, the previous Future Now website was very pretty, but it wasn't everything we wanted. We're very pleased with the redesign, mostly because we can mess around under the hood and get our hands dirty without getting growled at by our web developer. The team at Future Now are elated with Leigh Harrison's design, professionalism, humour, exceptional value, and the awesome functionality of the new platform. Thanks Leigh. You rock!! |
